The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate said Friday that any program devised to combat the recent crisis in the financial markets must also take into account the needs of average Americans. The comments came in response to a press conference held by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson earlier in the day, where he confirmed that he would work with Congress to create a entity aimed at removing bad mortgage-based assets from financial institutions.
