Interesting post. With these hard economic times, I've been looking to sell my small business. It hurts, but there's not much I can do. Anyway, besides business brokers, newspapers, and Craigslist, are there any outlets for me to sell my business by myself? Thanks so much.
@Emily –I hear you, and that’s a whole other topic...
I suggest going to your local Chamber of Commerce. They might be able to help you and direct you to people who are looking to buy a business.
But if you want to reach a much wider group of people to sell your business to, I would check out BizTrader.com. It's an online global marketplace where you can sell, buy, and invest in a small business. The listing price is really inexpensive compared to other places (it might be free right now), and it'll post your business on multiple search engines. If you do decide to use a broker, then your broker can also use the site.
Good luck!
